Audio Software Engineer

Job Summary:

The tech audio team at Interleave works alongside our audio designers and composers to create and maintain the tools and systems required to deliver audio and music support for our clients’ various AAA, mobile and VR/AR games.

You will be responsible for working with our audio designers to implement and maintain practical and performant runtime audio playback systems.

This position is remote, requires a well maintained media-capable computer and a high speed internet connection.

This project will require work hours primarily between the PST and EST time zones. Candidates outside of North America who are flexible with their working hours are also welcome to apply but this is not negotiable.

On a daily basis, you may be expected to:

  • Work with audio designers to engineer systems to facilitate premium game audio presentation

  • Work with engineering teams from other disciplines

  • Alter and enhance third-party tools to better suit the needs of audio designers, such as authoring custom plugins for Wwise

  • Implement and maintain tools for debugging and performance telemetry for the systems you build

  • Help our games achieve audio brilliance!

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 shipped AAA title or equivalent Indie experience

  • Strong C/C++ development and optimization skills

  • Strong debugging and documentation skills

  • Strong 3D math foundation

  • Experience programming in multithreaded environments

  • Ability to work efficiently and independently

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Passion for working closely with world-class sound designers, supporting their developing day-to-day needs for audio technology and associated tools

  • A highly self-motivated team player with the ability to dive in, understand large codebases, and learn quickly

  • Experience developing for multiple platforms, and modern consoles

  • Experience using Wwise (preferred) or FMOD

  • Experienced development in Unreal Engine, Unity

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification, or relevant experience, in Computer Science or a related subject


Nice to have:

  • An ear for what makes a game’s audio sound great

  • Experience in DSP programming

  • Experience programming in C#

  • Have built or worked with game engine audio systems
